Best Communities for Music Education
For the 14th consecutive year, Mounds View Public Schools has won the Best Communities for Music Education Award, presented by the NAMM Foundation. Mounds View was one of only 13 Minnesota school districts to receive the designation for 2026. This year, more than 3,000 students in grades 4-12 chose to participate in band, choir and orchestra.

The e-ALC program at the ALC has flexible scheduling options. All schedules are built based on student's academic need and graduation/diploma plan.
ALC students can earn a High School diploma from their home school or from the ALC. The Area Learning Center's graduation ceremony is in June and graduating students are encouraged to participate. Students receiving a diploma from their home school may also walk in the ALC ceremony.
Bus transportation is available from both Mounds View and Irondale High Schools. Students are also permitted to drive personal vehicles to the ALC. The ALC does not have an open campus and no off-campus lunch. If students leave the building unsupervised, they will not be permitted back into school and will not be allowed to use bus transportation for the remainder of the day.
