In view of the data and of the discussion of the texts in which Plutarch refers to animals and vegetables influenced by or symbolizing the Sun and the Moon, we cannot agree with Jean Hani's negative interpretation of Plutarch's attitude towards these beliefs, which are almost always related to the Egyptian cult of the animals. Boulogne has established a catalogue of nine relative explanations for the role animals played in Egyptian religion: la mythologie , la psychologie , la politique, la demonologie, l'ethique, le symbolique, l'ethicosymbolique, l'anthropologie and la theologie. The author proposes increasing them to ten, including astrology. Keywords:astral biology; astrology; Egyptian religion; Plutarch; Sun

Pseudepígrafos de la astrología griega

The peculiarities of astrology, which was the object of strong criticism on the part of provident... more The peculiarities of astrology, which was the object of strong criticism on the part of providentialists and inspired several expulsion decrees from Republican times to the end of the Empire, made it a prime concern for pseudepigraphers. Ever since its early systematiza-tion in Alexandria, the authors of the corresponding treatises sought acceptance for the new doctrine invoking its divine origin and endowing their works with the authority of prestigious names such as those of mythical characters, famous kings, wise men, scientists, historians, and philosophers. This paper is an attempt to shed light on the preceding by analyzing the works attributed to Egyptian (Hermes, Asclepius and Nechepso and Petosiris), Biblical (Abraham, Henoch, Adam, Seth, Daniel, David and Solomon), Persian (Zoroaster, Ostanes and Hystaspes) and Greek authorities (Hippocrates and Galen, Democritus, Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, Alexander and Manetho).
