I don’t think I have enough words to encapsulate my emotions and the memories that I have made in the University. I am humbled and grateful to the Professors who guided me throughout my Law School Journey. Every ounce of it was enthralling. I am glad to have been a part of this University. The journey was a whirlpool of emotions. It did shape me in the best way possible.
The University not only helps you fetch good internships and provides you with the opportunities to apply for competitive jobs in the market, but it also grooms you, gives you all the freedom and encourages you to do it on your own. While I was in my fifth year (2016-2017) of the College, I was doing an internship where I was under a lot of work pressure, time commitments and giving out my best. When I conveyed the same to my Professors, they were so supporting that they encouraged me to prioritize my internship and put in my whole hearted efforts there. I did exactly that and I had a job offer before I graduated from the University. Simultaneously, I was also assisting and working as a Research Assistant under the Registrar of Jawahar Lal University, Delhi in writing books on “Ragging: Legal Aspects and Institutional Framework” and “Parliament: Accountability & Responsibility”. I am also happy to share that the Book got published by Universal Law Publishers under the aegis of Lexis Nexis. It all worked out well for me for the major reason that the University and the Professors were highly supportive throughout. I would further like to give the credit to the Professors for motivating me right from the first year for the internships and for always focussing on the importance of internships. As a result, I ended up doing more than ten internships in total in my 5 year law course.
Throughout my Law School, I had my inclination towards Corporate Law, probably the reason I did my specialization in Corporate Laws and Intellectual Property Rights. However, after graduating, initially (while looking for even better opportunities), I joined a litigation law Firm temporarily. From the very day of my job, I was sent to Court for appearing and arguing in the matters. In the process of doing so, very soon, I realised that litigation was something that I always wanted to do. Self-realisation of wanting to do litigation was so strong that I did reject a very good job opportunity (in Corporate Law) that I got from a very good law Firm, since I had applied in the Firm and had got the same after clearing three rounds of interviews (Trust me, NO REGRETS).
After a year of working in the first law Firm that I had joined, I switched to the one where I am presently working. It’s called NUMEN LAW OFFICES. While working in this Firm (it’s been almost 3 years now), I have realised how important it is to have job satisfaction and to have that mental peace. The growth here has no bar so much so they have always encouraged me and has shown so much confidence to front-end the matter, deal with the Clients directly, argue the matters listed for final hearings, give legal opinion etc. I can proudly say that I am enjoying every day at work and exploring my potential every day. I again feel proud and humbled to share that I am currently working as the Senior Associate in the Firm, being recently promoted.
Lastly, I would like to conclude by saying that I can’t thank my Professors and the Recruitment Cell enough to put it all that they have to shape the careers of the students. Without the major contribution of the University overall, I would not have been able to have the dignified and self aware approach towards life that I have today.
