Marsha Smith ’70
English Literature
As a member of the Rochester (New York) Genealogical Society Writers’ Group, I participated in producing our first book: Many Paths: Discovering Family Histories, edited by Laurie Bauer and John A. Albertini. My chapter traced a maternal great-grandaunt, and the process was both challenging and rewarding. Our diverse group of thirteen authors worked on a common task, via zoom across several states, for roughly 18 months— and achieved our goal. The experience of community felt like a story in itself. We continue meeting monthly and supporting each other in research and writing.
