DNB - Program DNB Program General Information on DNB Program Diplomate of National Board (DNB) is a Post-graduate Master's degree same as an MD/MS degree awarded to Specialist Doctors in India after completing a three-year residency. DNB courses are run and the degrees are awarded by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, an autonomous academic body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to the candidates on successful completion of their postgraduate residency. Eligibility Selection as per counselling after NEET exams conducted by National board of examination, New Delhi. Seats 3 Primary (Post MBBS) 3 Secondary (Post Diploma) 1 primary sponsored 1 secondary sponsored seat Duration Primary DNB - 3 years Secondary DNB - 2 years Teaching Program Seminars Case presentations and seminars are held every day promote overall academic interest Regular evaluation through internal assessment to track the overall progress of the candidates Conference It has been made mandatory to present one poster, one paper and one publication by the end of the resident's tenure. This is to encourage the students' active participation. PG Refresher Programs and Workshops Nethradhama hosts workshop programs for PG students participate from all over India. Our students get to be a part of the program right from the planning to collaborating with guest students who get hands on exp in the wet labs. Surgical Training Wet Labs We have a fully functional wet lab with microscopes, Phaco machines, wax eyes, instruments etc. It is available 24x7 for improving the student’s surgical skills. SICS DNB students are started on SICS hands on training in our camp OT from the first year itself along with Pterygium surgeries. Some other departments include: Squint workup, Diplopia charting, Hess charting Orthoptics clinic ERG & VEP Phaco DNB students are started on Phaco training in wet lab under proper guidance followed by hands on training in our camp OT during the final of their training. Hands-on Students also get hands on exposure to various procedures like: Subjective Refraction Retinoscopy, Keratometry, A-scan, YAG- Capsulotomy, Gonioscopy, Tonometry, OCT-RNFL, Visual fields, YAG-PI, Retinal Lasers, Intra-Vitreal injections, Fundus photography, OCT- Macula, OCT-Angio and FFA. Postings Rotation in Hospital Departments Rotational posting in General Ophthalmology, Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina, Uvea, Oculoplasty and squint, and Phaco-refractive. Students are also trained to manage emergency cases under the guidance of fellow under training during night shift duties. Camps Students are posted in eye camps as per the monthly schedule where they independently work-up the patients for Cataract surgery. Charitable Hospital Postings DNB students are posted twice a week to Charitable Hospital for performing surgeries and handling independent OPD OT observation Students get exposure to various surgeries including: High-end surgeries including femto assisted cataract surgeries with 3D visualization Refractive surgeries DCR, Ptosis correction and other oculoplasty surgeries, Vitreo-retinal surgeries and Corneal transplantation surgeries Infrastructure Library For Students The library facilities are available 24x7 containing all the latest books/ journals. High End Equipment All DNB students have free access to the latest equipment / investigations and get hands on experience. Laboratory The in house microbiology lab gives a holistic approach in diagnosing infections,students are encouraged to understand the preparation of microbiology slides/ culture media. Canteen Healthy and homelike meals are available inhouse canteen. Other Benefits Accommodation Inhouse Accommodation- Clean & Hygenic Rooms are provided in the hospital premises for doctors on night duty External accommodation- Well Furnished rental apartments are provided at subsidized price for the benefit of students 1.
