The DNREC Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy supports energy efficiency and conservation programs that help reduce energy use and its impact on the state’s environment and public health. Every investment in energy efficiency helps increase productivity and profits for business, reduces the production of harmful greenhouse gasses, lowers energy costs, and improves the value and comfort of our homes and businesses.

Energy Efficiency is Important for Delaware
Making your home energy efficient can help Delaware’s economy and environment, and it can help you save money. DNREC’s
Delaware Energy Efficiency Potential Study
noted that overall electric consumption could be reduced by almost 20 percent through 2025. The report noted that energy efficiency is highly cost-effective – investing $1 in Delaware energy efficiency programs will return $2.40 to the economy.
An
update of the study
issued in 2019 found that, overall, cost-effective savings continued to be possible for both electricity and natural gas in Delaware. According to the update, “Programs which capture all achievable savings would have benefits 2.18 times greater than their costs, and result in net benefits of over $1 billion.”

by insulating electrical outlets, windows, doors, attics and other areas that may let in drafts
Reduce your energy use during peak use times (Check with your utility for more information)
Most of these steps have low costs but return results and saving quickly.
