Overview

Nirvana in Fire (琅琊榜) is a 2015 Chinese historical drama television series based on the novel by Hai Yan. Directed by Kong Sheng and Li Xue, it stars Hu Ge as Mei Changsu, a brilliant strategist who returns to the capital under a disguised identity to uncover the truth behind a conspiracy that destroyed his family.

Plot

Twelve years before the events of the series, the Chiyan Army — an elite force of 70,000 soldiers — was ambushed and annihilated on the Meiling Ridge due to a treacherous conspiracy orchestrated by corrupt officials. Lin Shu, the young heir to the Chiyan Army and son of the commander, barely survived but was poisoned by the Poison of Biting Flame, which left him chronically ill and changed his appearance entirely.

Reborn as Mei Changsu, the chief of the Jiangzuo Alliance and known across the land as the Divine Talent, he returns to the imperial capital Jinling. His goal: to secretly assist his childhood friend Prince Jing in the succession struggle, while methodically dismantling the corrupt officials responsible for the Chiyan tragedy.
