Synopsis
Li Bai's seven-character quatillion describing the magnificent Mount Lu waterfall.
Original Text
日照香炉生紫烟,遥看瀑布挂前川。
飞流直下三千尺,疑是银河落九天。
Sunlight on Incense Peak rises purple mist,
From afar the waterfall hangs before the river.
Flying waters plunge three thousand feet straight down —
As if the Silver River fell from the highest heaven.
Overview
"Viewing the Waterfall at Mount Lu" is one of Li Bai's most celebrated landscape poems, using hyperbole and wild imagination to describe the Mount Lu waterfall.
