From Cardiff Met to Legal Advisor at Simpson Solicitors with the LLB Law degree

Cellan Williams
Law - LLB (Hons)
Business & Management
My name is Cellan Williams and I currently live in Cardiff, however I’m originally from a little village outside of Swansea called Garnant. I studied LLB Law at Cardiff Metropolitan University between 2020 – 2023 where I received my bachelors of LLB Law with honours.
With such a rich history of sport and great facilities, my decision to attend Cardiff Met was not one of difficulty. The balance of university and attending sporting activities is really what made my years at the university all the better – having the opportunity to not only plan my future but to also enjoy my time on the rugby field.
Once I reached my final year of university, I secured a part time job at Legal & General. After graduating this quickly turned into a full-time position where my legal knowledge was being pushed to new limits that would essentially only benefit me going forward in the future.
After one year and three months at the company, I was delighted to begin my new journey as a Legal Advisor at a private client law firm in Cardiff, called Simpson Solicitors, where I am now currently based.
Graduating from such a challenging yet insightful course, alongside being the first graduates of the degree in the university’s history, has to be my biggest university achievement. Balancing building my CV with work experience, alongside upcoming work assignments, was made possible through online internship opportunities made available to us during our studies.
Without the practical experiences during my time studying Law at Cardiff Met, I would not be where I am today. From the countless hours preparing for a mooting competition at the university, to the careers sessions on how to make an appealing LinkedIn page, to client management and interview preparation – These have all been vital skills that I’ve carried through to my legal career.
Securing a job at an organisation that allows for us young law graduates to thrive and offers great learning opportunities is my biggest career achievement so far. Simpson Solicitors supports us to achieve our desired goals and sets us up on the ladder of career success in the legal world.
My advice for students looking at applying to study LLB Law at Cardiff Met, is to be open to anything that comes your way. Have an open mind and absorb the information that the lectures are presenting. I highly recommend Cardiff Metropolitan University and wish all the future students the best of luck in their studies and I look forward to possibly working with you in the future.
