Come enjoy a variety of fun activities for the whole family at the Arbor Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18
th
, at Thousand Oaks Community Park, located at 2525 N. Moorpark Road (next to Thousand Oaks High School). This free family event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will include kids’ activities, electric vehicle demos, bicycle activities, plant giveaways, food trucks, live music, and more.
Bicycle Rodeo & Helmet Giveaway
Don’t let the name fool you, the Glenn Garvin Memorial “bicycle rodeo” is a fun, educational activity for children and teens. Participants ride (or walk) through the
"Safe Moves City"
course, which teaches bicycle and pedestrian safety in a simulated traffic situation. Bring your own bike or scooter, or choose from a variety of different-sized bikes that will be provided. Your choice! Participants will be fitted with a new bicycle helmet to navigate the course and can keep the helmet when they finish!
Bicycle Donations
Have a used bike that your child has outgrown or is taking up valuable space in your garage? Bring it to the event! The Conejo Recreation and Park District’s (CRPD) youth outreach program will be collecting gently used or new bicycles at its booth. The donated bikes must be fully functional. Through the CRPD Teen Center, the bikes will be provided to underserved Conejo Valley youth who don’t have transportation to school or work.
Electric Vehicles
Considering the purchase or lease of an EV? With the growing popularity and availability of electric vehicles,
EV Advocates of Ventura County
will host an electric vehicle car show where local EV owners will display their personal vehicles and be available to answer your questions and provide first-hand experience and insight on EV ownership.
Compost and Plant Giveaway
Ventura County Master Gardeners and the Las Flores Community Garden will be giving away California native plants. Athens Services will be providing free compost for you to bag and take home! They will also be available to answer any questions you may have regarding your trash, recycling, and organics collection service.
Live Music, Raffles, Food Trucks, and More
Enter a raffle to win a portable induction (electric) cooktop, solar power bank, solar rechargeable LED flashlights, and more. Food trucks will have delicious food options to choose from. The Fam Damly Band will provide the soundtrack for this fun community event, playing classic rock, pop, and country hits that you can dance and sing to from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.
