Mixed Berry Muffin Loaf

I have just put a variation of Smitten Kitchen's
Perfect Blueberry Muffin Loaf
in the oven, and in about an hour, I should be in berry heaven.
I did make some tweaks to the recipe.
First, instead of just blueberries, I used blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and a sliced-up plum. I was doubling the recipe and needed just a touch more fruit to go in there.
Second, instead of just Greek yogurt, I used half Greek yogurt, half sour cream, because I only had enough Greek yogurt for one batch, but I had enough fruit for a doubled recipe and those berries weren't going to last. Some of the berries had, in fact, not lasted, and I had to pitch a bunch of them that had gone horribly moldy. It was tragic. Hence the sliced-up plum. But. I mean. Plums.
Third, I skipped the turbinado sugar on the top. Which, I know, is heretical. But I
like
a moderately less sweet recipe. I thought about also throwing in some whole wheat flour, but there's only so far I can go in my life.
Plus I had just made the bulgur wheat bread recipe (rather healthy stuff) from
Bread Toast Crumbs
, a delightful no-knead bread cookbook that Mom got me many years ago, and it is one of my favorites, both because it's from Mom and because of the ease of the recipes. Bread is not an intimidating thing and this cookbook doesn't ask you to get a lot of fancy equipment - because bread shouldn't need it. Bread is everyday, peasant food, not fancy stuff.
Mm. Bread. Maybe I'll bake some more. But we'll have to finish that off with the homemade tomato soup leftovers for lunch. How terrible. Worst lunchtime fate ever. Let me go start heating that up and grab the balsamic.

CNN article has some more detailed information and background including the statement
, "...an NYPD source told CNN that Trachtenberg reportedly had a recent medical issue and that her death appeared to be related to natural causes and not suspicious."

I've switched it up a bit to also include the inverse of each state. Just because! For fun! I've done this meme a few times, so why not change it up?

A (Quite Exceptional) Day in the Life of Amy Santiago, Future Captain
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Amy/Rosa, Amy panics about coming out until she doesn't - 7,389 hits and still the most in my fanfic oeuvre. I really loved writing it, so I'm glad it's still so recognized.

- Warehouse 13/Brave (2012) is the third-most commented story in my list (at 39), because of, yes, thank you, Yuletide. In a world where Brave existed and created Warehouse-eligible artifacts, yes, Myka and HG are going to work their relationship out via the magic of one of them turning into a bear.
And I love it.
Inversely, we have
The Eureka Field Guide to Zombie Invasions
- Eureka, Allison Blake/Jack Carter/Nathan Stark - I think we can figure out what that's about from the title. It's the first one listed with two comments, as opposed to zero or one. Slightly unfair, as it's an originally-posted-to-LJ piece, where it received comments aplenty, but this is about fics on AO3, so...
I Am Dead, My Dearest
- Carmilla, Laura/Carmilla, a dark and femslashy Yuletide 2013 story which is probably why it's my fourth most bookmarked fic.
Inversely, my fourth least bookmarked fic - well, that's ridiculous, because if you're starting from zero there are so many, but I've picked two unusual ones that I'm quite proud of that just aren't popular pairings:
I Dream of You, To Wake
- Gen, SG1/SGA/BtVS/Angel - At Janet Fraiser's funeral, Halfrek wheedles a wish out of Cassandra Fraiser and the whole universe goes to shit. Two years later, Elizabeth Weir and John Sheppard show up at the Hyperion Hotel looking for information that would lead to the lost city of Atlantis. I wrote this in 2009 and I didn't have the skill to turn it into the monster novel-length crossover it deserved to be at that point, and now I don't have the time. But I love it this bit anyway.
Schism
- SGA/Babylon 5, Teyla/Elizabeth, still only 3 bookmarks, and yes, I really did write 5,000+ words of crossover at least partly to fix what that fucking show did to Talia Winters. Also because it was fun to take the SGA characters and Atlantis and shoehorn them into the Bab5 universe. Which is probably why it's failed so dismally, that's a small Venn diagram of fandom.
Atlantis Underhill
- SGA again, another one of those supremely bonkers fics (and I love it, shut up), Laura Cadman/Evan Lorne, Kate Heightmeyer/John Sheppard, Ronon Dex/Teyla Emmagan/Elizabeth Weir, Atlantis filled with werewolves, sidhe, vampires, various other fae, basically the "rejects of Earth" concept taken to a very big extreme. To the tune of, yes, about 18k.
Inversely, the fifth-lowest wordcount (after drabbles, to see if I can find something else), is
The Stargate, the TARDIS, and the Handcuffs
, a bit of dialogue-only randomness with Sam, Jack, and Nine. I had forgotten all about this 170-word oddity, but I do think it's engaging.
Evolution
- Threshold, Lucas/Rachel. Remember that tiny, one-season science fiction show featuring Carla Gugino, Brent Spiner, Peter Dinklage, along with a host of other good actors? It was good, you should watch it. My lowest-wordcount fic not a drabble (clearly meant to be a drabble, but I failed math, apparently) is 101 words.

For the inverse: My highest-wordcount fic currently is a WIP, so I'll spare you that, and the second-highest is co-written, so I'll leave it out (even though I love it), but mostly because I feel like a change. The non-WIP, non-co-written highest-wordcount fic is this:
Since I First Heard the Footsteps
- SGA/SG1, Elizabeth Weir/Janet Fraiser, Kate Heightmeyer/John Sheppard/Carolyn Lam, some background Rodney/Radek, Teyla/Sora, and Carson/Katie Brown - Soulmarks/Soulbonds, fpreg, Sentient Atlantis getting involved in everyone's love lives, along with a healthy dose of Janet Fraiser not being dead, and oh-so-coincidentally being Elizabeth Weir's soulmate. Daniel still doesn't manage to get to Atlantis.

I have lip stain again, just Benetint, and I had forgotten how my lower lip absorbs the color better than my upper lip, so to get the color the same level, I have to put one more layer on my upper lip.
Which. Okay. Fine. But now the layers are
uneven
. Good grief.
Also that objection is entirely ridiculous. Uneven lip stain layers. But I have them.

The oversized cashmere cable-knit turtleneck sweater
with vented back
might be okay for more temperate climates, but I feel that advertising this in the Midwest when the wind chill is at least -12 during the day when I'd be wearing said oversized sweater is pretty disingenuous. Maybe fall with layers?

2024 Fanfic Round-Up

Apparently I'm writing a bit more than I used to be. I drabbled a lot this year, though. And everyone who wrote for the Sheppard/Weir ficathon got a treat.
All stories are posted to AO3 and are now archive-locked because of the scraping. Which is a little like doing that after the horses have escaped, but it makes me feel marginally better.

I've enjoyed the first two episodes, but I don't know which of the non-Kathryn Hahn cast I prefer the most, Patti LuPone or Aubrey Plaza, or (of course and always), Emma Caldwell, but everyone. Everyone is amazing.

Adam Savage - When a Giftee Throws Away Your Homemade Gift
This can be a bit painful to watch, but I did find it ultimately healing and worthwhile. Time does heal all wounds, though, as the video says, but it can take a lot of time.
A couple of things I definitely liked hearing:
"The person throwing out the thing you made has no bearing on your skill as a maker."
"Their appreciation has no bearing on your skill as a maker."
