This applies to any student who does or does not yet have an I-20, including those who have not previously studied in the U.S.
*These deadlines are for incoming foreign national students planning to enter the United States under the F-1 student visa. If you require an F-1 visa, you must deposit by the May 1 deadline to allow enough time for the visa process. All required materials must be received by New College Admissions in order to receive a decision. Please plan ahead to make sure we get all of your materials on time!
New International Students
Plan to arrive at New College on Sunday, August 9, 2026, to move into your residence hall. You will meet with the NCF SEVIS representative, register in Glacier for your U.S. tax requirements, and complete New Student Orientation that first week.
Bring these documents to your appointment with the NCF SEVIS representative:

I-94 (proof from U.S. Customs/Border Protection of your legal entry into the U.S.)
Complete Your GLACIER Profile
All NCF international students are required to complete a profile in the GLACIER system for their U.S. tax requirements.
Your GLACIER login information will be sent from

one month into your first semester;
Log into GLACIER (

Click on the GLACIER logo to enter the website;
Enter your login information on the login screen; you must select a new User ID and Password at the time of first access to GLACIER; and,
Complete your GLACIER profile using your I-20, Visa, and personal information.
International Student Tax Summary Report
Find your “Tax Summary Report” in your GLACIER profile. Sign your “Tax Summary Report” digitally and submit it to:

Do this at least once every year; and,
Do this every time you make an update to your GLACIER profile.
Update Your Glacier Account
Every time you enter and leave the United States;
Update the “Personal Information” section of your GLACIER record if you get a job on campus , or if your address or email changes;
Update the “Immigration Status Expiration Date” in your GLACIER record with your new “Passport Expiration Date.”
You must submit a new “Tax Summary Report” if you make any updates in GLACIER.
You must file IRS form 8843 if you need to inform the IRS that you are exempt from filing a tax return.
New College of Florida will use part of your taxable scholarship funds to help pay for your federal tax requirements. Other benefits, such as coverage of room and board, may also be taxable.
You can file your taxes through GLACIER Tax Preparation (GTP), which also provides direction on how to file your taxes. Or, you can file your taxes using other tax software, or by paying a tax preparation service. NCF staff are not permitted to give you tax advice.
Please have all of your Forms W-2, 1042-S and/or 1099 BEFORE you access GTP via GLACIER.
You will be asked to enter your “Academic Institution” information. Enter the following information:

How to Access GTP Through GLACIER
Go to:
and enter your GLACIER User ID and Password.
Select “Forgot Login” if you have forgotten your access information; an email will be sent to the email address in your GLACIER record.
From the GLACIER menu, select “Complete my U.S. tax return using GLACIER Tax Prep.”
You must verify and/or update important information before you continue to GTP.
Once the information in GLACIER is correct, you will see the “Welcome to GLACIER Tax Prep” screen. If the menu option above is grayed out, you must complete the information in your GLACIER record first by selecting the first menu option – then, you can proceed to GTP.

(U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return)
1042-S
: This is in GLACIER. “Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding.” This is for scholarship funding over the amount for tuition, enrollment fees, books, supplies, required equipment.
1098-T
: This in your NCF Portal Self Service Student tile, under “Student Accounts.”
1099
: “Non-employee Compensation” is provided if you were paid for goods or services as a vendor, but were not hired as an employee.
W-2
: “Wage and Tax Statement.” This in your NCF Portal Self Service Employee tile – if you have been a student worker.
W-7
: This is in Glacier. You must file this if you don’t have a Social Security Number or Individual Tax Identification Number.

: “Statement for Exempt Individuals” is provided if you are exempt from filing a tax return.
The “Form I-20” process is unique for each international student. If you are a transfer student, entering New College of Florida from another U.S. higher education institution, your SEVIS record will need to be transferred to us. If you have been out of school for one semester or longer, you will need to start this process over again and reapply for a student visa. Without an active Form I-20, your student visa is not valid.
New College of Florida works exclusively with F-1 international students. Freshmen entering New College with no prior college experience will need to start at the beginning. Our international student admissions staff will only help you complete your Form I-20 after you have submitted your enrollment deposit.
Each international student must provide the following documents to be issued an updated Form I-20 or a new Form I-20 to take to your embassy interview:
The
Form I-20 – Certification of Funds Form
details evidence of funds in U.S. dollars sufficient to cover tuition, fees, and living expenses for at least one academic year. This amount is listed under the “Total Cost of Attendance” on your New College of Florida “Cost of Attendance” letter.
The
Certification of Funds Form
needs to be signed and stamped by the bank where the funds are deposited.
A letter from the bank on official bank letterhead certifying the amount of the funds available in U.S. dollars, or a copy of the bank account statementin U.S. dollars. This letter or statement must be dated less than 3 months from the date of submission.
A copy of your passport (photo page). Ensure that the passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended period of study in the United States.
A copy of your government-issued ID.
Official high school and/or college transcripts, official test scores if required, and an official credential evaluation for high school or an international college or university.
Transcripts, scores, and evaluations need to be sent directly to New College of Florida to

by the issuing institution for the documents to be official.
Transfer students must check with your current’s institution’s DSO to transfer your SEVIS record to New College of Florida.

Embassy Interview Tips:
1. Dress formally and professionally.
2. Be prepared to explain why you have chosen New College of Florida.
3. Be prepared to explain how you will support yourself financially while at New College.
4. Be prepared to explain your post-graduation plans. Emphasize the importance of returning to your home country after you graduate from New College.
5. Be prepared to explain your educational goals, what you want to study and why. Do not dwell on extracurricular activities, like sports or theatre.
6. Know your English. Speak clearly and take your time.
7. Be yourself.
