An alternative name in French language. Note that it is only rarely useful:
If object is in France and official names in other languages are not specified, then simply
alt_name
=*
is sufficient
If there is only one name in a common use, then
name
=*
or
name:fr
=*
is enough.
This tag can be used when a street, river or any other feature has another common name but there is some other alternative form. Like with
alt_name
=*
it is preferred to use more specific tags like
if that is possible, as these tags provide more info about nature of the name.
