Kindergarten Registration Information
Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-27 school year is now available.
Welcome to Gwinnett County Public School! We are looking forward to welcoming the newest members to the kindergarten squad for the 2026-27 school year! Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year is available to children who will be five years old on or before
September 1, 2026.
Registering early opens students to the opportunity to meet their future teacher and classmates before the first day of school. The two-step process should take approximately
20 minutes
to complete. If you’re not sure which school your child will attend, go to
School Locator
on the district website.
While completing the registration process, links and information will be emailed to you. It is important that you can easily gain access to that email address to complete the registration process.
Review and gather all
required documents
before submitting the online registration form. Most document attachments (PDF, JPG, DOC, PNG, etc.) are compatible.
The
registration
process should take approximately
20 minutes
. Setting time aside now will make the first day of school so much easier!

You should begin online registration now, even if your child’s health records are not up to date. Be sure to complete your child’s health screening and immunizations with the
Health Department
or your physician before school starts on August 5, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements for Enrollment in Gwinnett County Public Schools
Georgia state law (O.C.G.A. 20-2-150)
sets specific guidelines for school enrollment:
“…all children and youth who have attained the age of 5 years by September 1
st
shall be eligible for enrollment in the appropriate general education programs authorized in this part…”
Gwinnett County Public Schools provides the general determination that all children and youth that have attained the age of 5 years by September 1
st
are appropriately placed in kindergarten. (Policy & Procedure JBA)
Gwinnett County Public Schools provides the general determination that all children and youth that have attained the age of 6 years by September 1
st
are appropriately placed in 1
st
grade. (Policy & Procedure JBA)
Parents may request a determination of appropriate placement through the Student Support Team (SST) process by contacting the school principal.
Families may request a Kindergarten grade level review for a child who
will turn six years old on or before September 1
and
is not currently receiving special education services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Families must first complete the district's
Online Registration (OLR)
for the upcoming school year. After registration, families may contact their child's school to request a
Kindergarten Entry Consideration Review
. During the review process, schools may consider several sources of information, including academic readiness activities, social-emotional readiness, classroom readiness indicators, parent or guardian input, teacher or caregiver input (when available), and observations by school staff.

If your family recently moved to Georgia, your child may still qualify for enrollment if:
You lived in another state or country for the two years just before moving, and
Your child was legally enrolled in an accredited public or state-recognized kindergarten or first grade there.
In these cases, children who turn 5 (for kindergarten) or 6 (for first grade) by December 31 may enroll in Georgia.
