Is it native to Maryland?
Search for the plant in the
Maryland Plant Atlas
. This is the most up-to-date information on Maryland nativity. The default is that a species is a MD native if nothing is noted to the contrary. A species counts as non-native if the species entry includes in brown: "Non-native,” “Excluded,” “Nativity uncertain,” or other related designations. Also, if a species name has been spelled correctly and there is no entry in the Maryland Plant Atlas, the species is not native to MD.

Invasive plants regulations
As of January 2018, it is
illegal to
"propagate, import, transfer, sell, purchase, transport, or introduce any living part of"
the following species in Maryland: Amur honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii), Yellow flag (Iris pseudacorus), Shining geranium (Geranium lucidum), Lesser celandine (Ficaria verna or Ranunculus ficaria), Wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei), and Incised fumewort (Corydalis incisa)
