Human trafficking is not only a regional challenge but also a universal issue. It is performed for different purposes like labor, prostitution, organ transplant, drug couriers, arm smuggling etc. In recent times trafficking of women is being amplified terrifyingly due to globalization and liberalization. There are several factors behind the extremity of human trafficking in Bangladesh; for instance, poverty, unemployment, economic and social discrepancy, overpopulation, slow-moving and corrupted security system, social obligations of women and children (especially female children) etc. The parliament of Bangladesh has enacted Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking (PSHT) Act, 2012 to dissolve the human trafficking crisis. The major purpose of this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of existing state mechanisms and laws regarding prevention of human trafficking, especially women trafficking in Bangladesh. This paper has tried to discuss aspects of women trafficking and highlights on some steps to prevent it. Qualitative and quantitative approaches have been applied in this study. The available primary and secondary data substantiate that trafficking has become a major issue of concern and its intensity is increasing day by day in Bangladesh. It is also found that existing social structure, economic system, cultural condition, geographical setting and ineffective implementation of existing laws are responsible for trafficking of women. In the last stage of this paper, it has been suggested that comprehensive efforts are needed from legislative, executive and judiciary branches of the government to prevent trafficking as well as to reintegrate the trafficked victims with the main stream of population.

more
The Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Article 35(4) has ensured the protection of an accused person from being compelled to be a witness against himself. Confession is an exception to the general rule embraced in the Constitution as it means the direct, express, and plenary admission of guilt by the accused person. It is the most persuasive evidence against the confessor, and once it is brought into evidence, it frequently results in an accused person's indictment even in the absence of any more proof or corroborating evidence. The fate of such cases must be decided by precedents rather than statutory provisions, as no law directly addresses whether a confession may be the sole legal basis for a conviction. There are ongoing allegations that law enforcement officers routinely and widely use torture and other forms of ill-treatment to coerce confessions. The objective of this qualitative and analytical study is to scrutinize the existing legal provisions on confession and to figure out the stance of the judiciary in admitting various types of confessions as evidence through case laws. Moreover, this study evaluates the confession recording procedure of Bangladesh in light of international standards. This study recommends the implementation of the contemporary practice of recording confessions in Bangladesh in the presence of a lawyer while being questioned. Additionally, to ensure compliance with legal standards, confessions may be recorded using audio-video technology.

Fire Protection and Detection system is an important and essential event in modern life to protect the wealth, life, and other valuable assets. Previously, people used sand, and bucket of water to kill fire manually. But these techniques are backdated and risky that it could not work properly in past and in today"s life. In a developed country no building is designed without building safety code of firefighting. People in under developed countries like Bangladesh safety awareness is increasing rapidly now a day. Presently, more than 11 million people are living in Dhaka City. The development trend of Dhaka is deliberately shifting vertical direction to cope with the extensive population pressure. Nowadays, high rise buildings are being constructed in every part of the city but in most cases the dwellings are being constructed without maintaining the planning rules and regulations. This research tries to explore the existing provisions regarding Fire Service and Civil Defence activities in Dhaka City and to assess people"s preparedness in case of combating fire accident. Fire hazard vulnerability of Dhaka City dwellers has been increased due to reckless building construction and nonconformities of Fire Protection Act, 2003. Dhaka City has been experiencing many fire accidents at present and in most cases lack of proper precautionary measures along with the institutional inefficiency, insufficient equipment support and lack of public awareness are causing this situation more complex. Existing planning rules and laws are also insufficient to the present context of Dhaka City. As most of the dwellers do not know how to use the firefighting equipment, in most cases all the precautionary measures for combating fire generally go in vain. Therefore, institutional reforms, strengthening of capacity at individual and institutional level are needed in order to reduce fire hazard risks of Dhaka City.
