Montana History Compass
Montana History Compass
Montana Historical Society staff first developed the Montana History Compass as a "wiki" site, p
art encyclopedia and part subject guide, for researchers to quickly locate the best sources for their Montana history research. They developed guides for researching Montana history topics, created indexes for finding resources and information, and provided quick access to basic Montana facts.
As technologies changed, the "wiki" became more difficult to navigate, manage, and update, but the content in the History Compass is a valuable source of information about Montana History.
The History Compass continues here on our website. It's a great place to start exploring Montana History, find resources in the Library & Archives collection, and get help with conducting research, particularly using digital collections.
Note: Some of our Guides remain on our old Montana History Compass site.
