Doug Thompson
Guitar, ukulele, and jam band ensemble instructor Doug Thompson started playing violin at the age of 7 and has been playing music ever since. He has been a part of several bands, including Worfield Circle and, most recently, Too Lazy to Shave. Growing up in Bristol, Doug spent a great deal of time at the TTCC and Kelly Park. The creation of the after-school music program has given Doug the opportunity to share his musical knowledge and foster the arts in the community he loves so much.
The Guitar Class is perfect for beginner to early intermediate students. Classes focus on building chord vocabulary, simple melodies, and rhythm structures using contemporary and classic music.
The Ukulele Class offers a quick, accessible way to learn favorite songs. The ukulele’s softer strings make it ideal for younger players, and the skills transfer well to guitar.
The Jam Lab Ensemble provides a supportive opportunity for musicians with some experience to collaborate, learn band structure, develop technique, and perform music across genres.
Mike Laplume
“I’ve been playing drums as long as I can remember. I wasn’t allowed to keep pencils in my desk in first grade because I wouldn’t stop drumming with them on my desk. I have played drums in three local bands: Worfield Circle (hand drums), Peaked Hill Project (hand drums and kit), and Too Lazy to Shave (hand drums and kit).”
