My experience studying MSc Health Psychology at Cardiff Met

Choosing to study a Masters in Health Psychology might have been one of the smartest decisions I have ever made. Not only has it been a pivotal step that has brought me one step closer to becoming a Health Psychologist, it has also provided me with so many different opportunities along the way.  From guest lectures, networking events, careers fairs to a range of different coursework assignments and partnership-style dissertations, the Masters contributes to advice and information that proves extremely useful for a future in health psychology.
I’ll be honest in saying that the transition from undergraduate to postgraduate education can be challenging, but I do believe that this step gives you a platform to excel within the field of psychology.  I was given brilliant research assistant experience on a project commissioned by Public Health Wales, which enabled me to practically apply my theoretical psychological knowledge in a health setting.
As of now, I am working as a graduate psychology-teaching assistant at the University of Gloucestershire, which additionally came with an offer to complete a PhD relating to behaviour change.  I can confidently say that the skills and experiences that I have learnt and taken away from the Health Psychology Masters have helped me immensely in continuing my journey as a Health Psychologist; I’m excited to see what’s next!
