The original OFF/X proposal was
posted by Adam Twardoch on the public-webfonts-wg
mailing list, as it was originally thought of as a potential work item for that group.
Discussion at TypeCon Portl& indicated a desire for a wider participation (from typographers, font vendors, font bureaux, web designers and web browser deveopers) and also that, since the profile could be non-normative (its an opt-in best practice) a Community Group was seen as a better forum to develop it.
So – what do we get? We have:
a web address to call our own
a mailing list,
public-offx@w3.org
, which has a
public archive
a mini wordpress blog to write posts like this
wiki
(mediawiki) which can be used for collaborative editing
I would suggest that the first thing to do is advertise and get more people involved. Also, in parallel, start populating the wiki with some pages (multiple) drawing out specific parts of Adam’s proposal (like rendering model, rationale, one page per OpenType table discussed, and so on.)
