The cloud is a computing model used by many consumers which include individuals and organizations... more The cloud is a computing model used by many consumers which include individuals and organizations for data storage which hitherto demands that adequate security measures be put in place to protect the confidentiality and integrity of that information. In cases where these security measures are inefficient or in some cases non-existent, client data is prone to a number of unauthorized violations which include breach of privacy, loss of data, compromised data integrity, and data manipulation among others. This therefore necessitates the demand for efficient security measures. Encryption is a security technique adopted by many for data protection which entails concealing the information content of a message in a way that only the intended recipient can make use of it. This research paper discusses the concept of encryption, a review of different encryption schemes that have been discussed over the years, and proposes a one-time pad encryption (OTP) algorithm (FAPE's OTP). FAPE's OTP implements the one time pad using a key expansion process that transforms a 512 bit key to the length of the plaintext. This research was carried out through a comprehensive study of encryption and cloud processes to understand both concepts independently and determine how they can be interleaved while sustaining optimum delivery. Furthermore, our findings indicate that FAPE's OTP has a faster speed of operation in comparison to the Advanced Encryption Standard.

It is not clear to what extent medical students have been integrated into this newer model, more especially at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL), AIM: To assess the level of knowledge and perception of physiotherapy by the final year medical students of CMUL about physiotherapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS Ninety eight final year medical students of CMUL participated in the study. They were required to complete a standard 22 item closed-ended questionnaire which was self administered. Data were presented as mean +/- standard deviation; Inferential statistics of chi-square and t-tests were used to compare differences between variables. RESULTS The respondents displayed above average knowledge of physiotherapy as the mean scores obtained for knowledge of physiotherapy were 20.25 +/- 4.50 and 18.77 +/- 4.60 for males and females respectively. They also showed a fair perception towards physiotherapy as the mean scores obtained were 32.70 +/- 7.20 and 34.33 +/- 7.30 for males and females respectively. However there was a significant gender difference in the medical students' knowledge of physiotherapy (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION The sampled final year medical students of CMUL had a good knowledge and fair perception of physiotherapy. Their main source of knowledge was classroom lectures. The need for further education of medical students with particular emphasis on clinical interaction was identified. It is hereby suggested that interprofessional courses and communication should be given greater attention during medical training.

Cloud computing, and the technology of virtualization which drives its foundations, lead the pack... more Cloud computing, and the technology of virtualization which drives its foundations, lead the pack of Information Technology (IT) solutions for business that have emerged and kept transforming businesses in recent years. While in acknowledgement of the fact that numerous researches have emerged in recent times on the concepts of virtualization and cloud computing, trying to address issues relating to management, complexity, operability, service delivery, security, amongst others, very little to no effort has been made to study how these technologies impact the dynamic business environment of the 21 st century and the benefits they could hold for businesses of the digital age. In light of this, this paper gives a theoretical review of the business environment as it was before and shortly after the advent of IT, in such a way that novices as well as experts in business and IT would be able to identify with and understand the interactions that have always existed amongst these industries. It further goes on to provide a detailed exposé on cloud computing and virtualization as it affects the business environment of the 21 st century, right from its inception and origins, to survey its history, basic concepts, current trends, modes of deployment and use, as well as the benefits they provide for businesses in our world. It brings in some proven industry perspectives and opinions and presents new insights into what the future has to offer with these twin technologies for both the worlds of business and IT.

This work proposes an adaptive request routing algorithm to choose the replica server using network proximity and a combination of Quality of Service metrics. The metrics include: bandwidth, availability of server, and latency. This is because the original intention of CDNs is for surrogate servers to respond to request from clients that are closer in proximity. This is not always the best option because the closest surrogate may either be overloaded (making it unavailable) or the connection may be poor. Thus, proximity with a mixture of metric are combined to choose the best surrogate to respond to request. . In contrast to most works in existing literature, this study emp...
