A group of like-minded individuals that are interested in the Object-RTC API model for WebRTC. It's likely these individuals or organizations are also taking part in the IETF RTCWEB and W3C WebRTC working group discussions.
Group's public email, repo and wiki activity over time

Object RTC (ORTC) API for WebRTC
[action required] ORCA CG name change and new home

Hello ORCA Community Group members.
We are changing the CG name from ORCA to ORTC as requested by some of our members and other W3C members for various reasons discussed in that last CG meeting. Minutes can be found here:
After discussing this with the W3C we had the choice to a.) change the name to ORTC but keep the current ORCA URI or b.) set up an entirely new CG. Since we didn’t want any confusion (ORTC CG name with a ORCA URI) we opted for the second option.
We have been told that a second legal review should not be necessary by your sponsoring organization since the new CG is simply replacing the existing CG.
Here is what that means to you as a member of ORCA:
You will need to join the new CG:
You will need to
join the public mail
list.
Signups for the ORCA group will soon be suspended
Emails sent to the ORCA mail lists will not go through, you will need to use the new lists for new postings. Emails sent to the orca lists will return a message pointing to the new lists at
ORTC CG
ORCA mail lists will live on and will be referenced for historical purposes.
All Community Groups fall under the guidelines in the
W3C Community Contributor License Agreement (CLA)
, so nothing changes there.
Soon we hope to publish a Public Working Draft of the API so that we can start implementing the API. Some of that work has already begun:
If you have any questions about the name change please forward those to
erik@hookflash.com
Thank you all for you continued support!

The Object RTC Walkthrough yesterday was tons of fun and we had plenty of great feedback. Thanks to everyone who joined us onsite and remotely.
Here is a link to the slides and what the video recordings:

Ustream Recordings:
NOTE: There were some issues with the software we were using (Ustream Producer) so only part of the presentation was live/recorded. We do have the entire Walkthrough recorded on another camera. We will get that up on YouTube as quickly as we can.
We would encourage everyone that attended to join the Community Group so we can continue to evolve the API alongside the current WebRTC work.

Prototype Implementation and Demo of ORTC API
Michael Champion

Lots has happened since the initial draft ORTC API spec was published on October 11. Robin Raymond and Bernard Aboba
demonstrated an early implementation of ORTC
at the IIT RTC Conference last week, and the demo/implementation has been
released by Microsoft Open Technologies.
Also, there is a thread in the community group mailing list discussing
questions about the spec
that came up while implementing it.
This is encouraging progress, but it’s just the first step. It would be great to get more people using this implementation and giving feedback about its usability to this Community Group. It would be even better to see others implementing the spec and sharing their implementation and interoperability experience here.
