Abstract
The book presents a study of the decrees of the Synod of Constantinople, held in 1276 at the request of Russian bishops. Russian Bishop Theognostus of Sarai asked the Synod to resolve issues that were relevant for Rus’ during its most diffi cult period, at the height of the Mongol invasion. The book examines the background of the journey of Bishop Theognostus to Constantinople and the peculiarities of the perception of issues related to worship and church governance by Russian and Greek bishops during the period of the Union of Lyons. The book contains an analysis of the historical context and features of the liturgy in relation to each article of the Old Russian text of the Synodal decrees. This allowed the author to identify the origin of the articles missing from the Greek version of the text. The study of the translation of the Greek decrees into Old Russian and their supplementation with original Russian materials shows that the decrees of the Synod of Constantinople were translated no earlier than the middle of the 14th century. The book is accompanied by the publication of all known Greek and Old Russian versions of the text of the decrees of the Synod of Constantinople.

The Pre-Variscan sequence of the Carnic Alps includes rocks deposited between the Middle Ordovician and the early Late Carboniferous, and represents one of the most continuous sequence of the world in that time interval. In a relatively small area it is possible to distinguish rocks deposited at various latitudes and climate (from cold in the Ordovician to tropical in the Devonian), and in different sedimentary environments (from shallow water, including reef deposition, to basin). Despite the huge number of papers published on this sequence, a formal lithostratigraphic scheme does not exist and the units are indicated with informal names, often different in various papers. Because the region crosses the state border between Italy and Austria, different terminologies have been adopted on both sides of the mountain chain. A joint research project was carried out from 2008 to 2015 with the goal to redefine the lithostratigraphy of the Pre-Variscan sequence of the Carnic Alps. More than thirty researchers from various European countries, mainly from Austria and Italy, were involved in four business meetings and three field workshops (Fig.1), and the (re)study of a huge amount of old and new data, in order to achieve a common but unified terminology. As result the Pre-Variscan sequence of the Carnic Alps is now subdivided in 36 formations, lithologically well characterized, with well-defined boundaries and designated stratotypes. Beside several papers in international journals, a volume on the revised lithostratigraphy (edited by Corradini & Suttner, 2015) was published. It includes an introduction to the geology of the Pre-Ber. Inst. Erdwiss. K.-F.-Univ. Graz

An analytic energy gradient method for second-order quasidegenerate perturbation theory with multiconfigurational self-consistent field reference functions (MC-QDPT) is derived along the lines of the response function formalism (RFF). According to the RFF, the gradients are calculated without solving coupled perturbed equations. Instead, it is necessary to solve seven sets of linear equations in order to determine Lagrangian multipliers, corresponding to four sets of parameter constraining conditions and three sets of additional parameter defining conditions in the Lagrangian. Just one of these linear equations is a large scale linear equation; the others are reducible to just partial differentiations or simple equations solvable by straightforward subroutines.
The Greek Genocide involved the persecution of native Greeks living in Ottoman Turkey. While deportation to the arid interior of Turkey was the most effective way to liquidate Greek communities en masse, massacres-either small or large scale-were also committed. Below is a list of known massacres perpetrated during the Greek Genocide.

Over a period of forty years, I have come to understand that my life as an artist parallels the life of a shaman in many ways. This idea has been corroborated by witnessing ritual and practice in the many cultures I have both lived in and visited. This paper, based on personal experience, focuses on imagery as a powerful vehicle for physical/emotional healing and recognizes the body as the repository of intuition, creativity and intrinsic knowledge leading toward behavior benefitting the greater good. Artists collaborate with their medium (paint, etc) to layer veils of light and shadow to produce illusions of form that have dimension, reflection, refraction and the presence of substance. Shamans (and priests) are the mediums who invoke illusions of form that have dimension, reflection, refraction and the presence of substance. The Cabala (ancient Hebrew mystical text) states that “Adam was created as the shadow of the reflection of the substance”. Both artist and shaman bear responsibility for the effect of their conjuring and are generally lauded as visionaries and respected for upholding and expanding the positive values of their culture. Following the characteristics delineated by Marcel Eliade (Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy 1964), I can align much of my experience as an artist to that of a shaman in the following ways: • straddle and intermediate between the spiritual and material/human worlds • evoke imagery to change the consciousness of self and others • heal trauma and restore balance to both the physical and spiritual aspects of the individual, resulting in positive change in the community at large “called” to this vocation • spend long solitary periods in the wilderness • experience serious illness that is not curable by western medicine (E. Turner) • self-heal through spiritual means • help heal others of both emotional and physical illnesses for the greater good • use symbols of respective cultures • identify with certain animals • require paraphernalia and ritual, (s

Agents that solve problems in unknown graphs are usually required to iteratively explore parts of the graph. In this paper we research the problem of finding a k-clique in an unknown graph while minimizing the number of required exploration actions. Two novel heuristics (KnownDegree and Clique * ) are proposed to reduce the required exploration cost by carefully choosing which part of the environment to explore. We further investigate the problem by adding probabilistic knowledge of the graph and propose an Markov Decision Process(MDP) and a Monte Carlo based heuristic (RClique * ) that uses knowledge of edge probabilities to reduce the required exploration cost. We demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approaches on simulated random and scale free graphs as well as on real online web crawls.
A single-step method to coat and trifunctionalize water-dispersed gold nanospheres (AuNss) with carboxylic acids, amines, and alkynes is reported. The coating is based on a mix of two hexa-peptides, differing only in the C-terminal amino acid. The process yields AuNss that are non-cytotoxic, stable in physiological environments, and which present three reactive surface groups allowing rapid, selective, 10 and modular conjugation (click- and peptide-reactions) to virtually any chosen biomolecule or fluorophore. Conjugated nanostructures were analyzed in vitro and in living cells. Confocal imaging and colocalization analyses demonstrate the presence and reactivity of three different types of covalent bonds with payloads: two of these are photostable while one bond is photolabile and can be cleaved by uW power irradiation with a 561-nm cw laser.

The article is devoted to the description of the meetings and the theological analysis of the decisions of the Council of Constantinople in 1166. The meeting was convened to clarify the correct interpretation of the words of Christ: «My Father is greater than I» (Jn. 14, 28). The purpose of this article is to show the cause of the theological contradictions and evaluate the decisions of the Council. The structure of the article has the following headings: sources, historical situation, the course of the Council, the consequences of the Council and its theology. The Council adopted the following interpretations of Jn. 14, 28: «Reasons», «according to humanity», «honor» and «comfort of the disciples» - and condemned the interpretation: «mental division» and «face of common human nature». The interpretation of the kenosis was at rst condemned, but it is not mentioned in the nal decisions. The essence of the contradictions revolved between Nestorian and Monophysite tendencies. So, for example, some theologians said that if we understand the word «less» in relation to humanity, then this will lead to a violation of the hypostatic union. In turn, others believed that the fascination with the idea of dei cation threatens to deviate into Monophysitism. In this case, it was really possible to come to the recognition of humanity only speculatively or in «mental division» («κατ’ ἐπίνοιαν διαίρεσιν»). This is exactly what happened to the condemned Metropolitan Konstantin of Corfu and Abbot John Irinikos.

The article is devoted to the description of the meetings and the theological analysis of the decisions of the Council of Constantinople in 1170. This Council was a logical continuation of the previous one, which examined the question of the correct interpretation of the words of the Savior: «My Father is greater than Me» (John 14:28). The purpose of this article is to show why the condemned interpretations of «division by mental representation» («κατ’ ἐπίνοιαν διαίρεσιν») and «common person» were heretical, although they had their origin in patristic creations. The structure of the article has the following headings: Sources, The Course of the Council, The Results of the Council and Its Consequences, Theology. The interpretations of «division by mental representation» and «common person» led Orthodox thought towards Monophysitism. The principle of «division by mental representation» was not used by St. John Damascene applied to John 14:28, and Metropolitan Constantine of Kerkir applied it at his own discretion. Both interpretations were similar, not only because they relied on the same source, but because they attributed the words of Christ to a non-existent nature.

The object of this research is the Byzantine legends telling the tale of enacting the celebration of Akathist during the 5th Saturday of the Great Lent in connection with the war events. The article examines the question of valid historical connection between the siege of Constantinople of 626 AD and the liturgy of the 5th Saturday of the Great Lent (Akathist Saturday). The research also touches upon the question of connection between the 678 and 717 AD sieges with the aforementioned sacred service, as well as determines the possible causes for association of liberation of the Byzantine capital and the liturgy of
