The Allied Health Pre-Nursing program is designed to help you become a strong candidate for acceptance into the competitive Practical Nursing program. The program provides a focused curriculum enabling you to acquire the skills needed to prepare for a successful nursing career.
Courses in the program are taught in small, personalized classes. The faculty are knowledgeable nursing professionals who are able to provide the specific instruction and individualized guidance you’ll need in your preparation to join the nursing profession.
As the population ages, the need for skilled Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) increases, with a 16 percent job growth in the next several years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Pre-Nursing program will set you on a path to join this rewarding field and thrive in your career as a Practical Nurse.

Learning Objectives
Demonstrate a strong foundation in health-related sciences, applied mathematics, English, humanities and social sciences that are required in health care professions.
Identify the anatomical structure and functions of the human body.
Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental molecular, cellular, and genetic principles characterizing plants and animals.
Identify the properties of matter, atomic structure, molecular geometry, periodic table arrangements, and chemical bonding and ionization.
Understand the functional anatomy of the human body and associated kinesiology.
Gain an appreciation for the delivery of health care with the environment of continuously changing vulnerable, racial, ethnic, and cultural demographics.
Demonstrate the principles of critical thinking in the process of problem resolution.
Complete the non-academic requirements for acceptance into the Practical Nursing program including, but not limited to, criminal background checks, drug clearance, child abuse clearance, documentation from a health care provider of up to date immunizations and/or titers, and a medical examination by a licensed health care provider.
NOTE: Successful completion of this program or specific terms in this program does not guarantee acceptance into the Practical Nursing program.
