Free Expression Tunnel
Express your creativity at the Free Expression Tunnel — a heavily trafficked underpass that connects the university’s north and central campuses. Designated a graffiti-friendly zone in the late 1960s, students can tag the tunnel’s walls as they see fit.
Mary Yarbrough Court
Mary Yarbrough Court is a quiet, shady escape named after the first woman to complete a graduate program at NC State. You can find the court, and its gardens, behind Holladay Hall on North Campus, within view of the Memorial Belltower.
Court of North Carolina
The Court of North Carolina is one of the largest green spaces at NC State. It’s a place for leisurely picnics, outdoor lessons and the occasional snowball fight on a wintry day. Unwind on Main Campus near the steps of the 1911 building.
JC Raulston Arboretum
The arboretum is open daily and is only two miles west of main campus. Explore one of the largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants in the southeast United States boasting 14 botanic gardens — including a rooftop terrace.
Schenck Forest
Sitting on 245 acres of land, Schenck Forest is a unique site that benefits NC State students, faculty and staff as well as the broader Raleigh community. The forest provides outdoor laboratories for students and faculty, publicly accessible trails, an arboretum and 50 acres of dedicated hardwood preservation. It’s located about 10 minutes from NC State’s campus.
Wellness and Recreation Outdoor Adventures
WellRec maintains the university's challenge course, climbing center and hosts a variety of trips throughout the year. The center and gym also rents out equipment to the campus community. Be sure to bring your Wolfpack One card or Wellness and Recreation member ID to check out any outdoor equipment.
Lake Raleigh Woods
Lake Raleigh’s recreation area sits in the heart of NC State’s Centennial Campus and offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration, including hiking, biking, picnics, disc golf, fishing, non-motorized boating and watersports.

The Shore Grief Center
If you have experience the death of a child, parent, sibling, spouse, grandparent, or friend, The Shore Grief Center is here to help you make sense of the grieving process. At The Shore Grief Center, we provide peer-based grief support groups for ages six and up and assist with the highly-personal journey through grief. Our facilitators meet with suicide survivors, bereaved parents, and host a general support grief group in Wake Forest, North Raleigh, and Youngsville.

Survivor Support Services
The NC State Women’s Center has trained advocates who support survivors of interpersonal violence (domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, etc.) in understanding their options and navigating healing and recovery. The NC State Women’s Center serves ALL NC State students and we welcome students of all gender identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations.
Services include accompaniment to court, student conduct hearings, law enforcement agencies, and medical services; crisis intervention and emotional support; academic and housing accommodations; resource navigation and referrals; financial support; reporting options; and safety planning.

Counseling in a small group setting can help you feel less alone. It connects you with other students who are going through similar struggles, creating an environment of social support and encouragement.
Unwinding Anxiety
Unwinding Anxiety is an award-winning, evidence-based program that provides guided video and audio lessons to help people reduce their anxiety. NC State employees and students can get a 30% discount on an Unwinding Anxiety one-year, six-month or one-month membership.

Headway
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina offers Headway, a mental health provider search platform. While all are welcome to use the platform, State Health Plan members enrolled in the Enhanced PPO Plan (80/20) or Base PPO Plan (70/30) will find Clear Pricing Project providers which do not require a copay.
Behavioral Health Resource Center
North Carolina State Health Plan members can access the Behavioral Health Resource Center to find providers who can assist with anxiety, depression and other issues.

CARES
CARES is a program that works closely with campus resources to provide early intervention for students who may be struggling personally or whose behavior has led others to be concerned for their well-being. Case managers can meet with the individual(s) to provide access to resources and follow up with them to monitor their progress.
Students, faculty, parents, and others are strongly encouraged to report behaviors that they feel are concerning or worrisome (no matter how small or insignificant they may seem).
Lux Resources
Lux Resources is a non-profit based in North Carolina created by NC State students to provide free legal support to survivors of sexual violence. Lux's website compiles resources that support survivors, so survivors can focus on healing rather than navigating the legal system alone.

The Wellness Village is open to all NC State students committed to living a balanced lifestyle. The village encourages developing and maintaining personal overall wellness through coursework, small programs, mentorships and high-impact events.
Emergency Housing
NC State University Housing provides temporary and emergency housing on a case-by-case basis. While there is no cost for current on-campus residents to access alternative housing in the event of an emergency, costs for off-campus students vary by duration of stay.
Emotional Support Animals on Campus
NC State University Housing permits service and assistance animals in all residential facilities. To qualify, students must receive approval from the Disability Resources Office and complete the University Housing service/assistance animal request form.

Fitness Assessment Services
Know where you are today to get where you want to be tomorrow. Fitness assessments are designed to help you learn more about your body to develop a personalized plan for meeting your health and fitness goals.
On-Call Services
The Counseling Center provides 24/7 crisis support to any student in need, and our clinicians work to ensure all students are supported, assessed and provided resources. After hours and on weekends and holidays, our crisis services are shifted to ProtoCall, a contracted service that provides telephonic counseling by licensed clinicians to any student in need.

Individual Counseling
Short-term therapy at the Counseling Center is goal-oriented, solution-focused and time-limited. You and your clinician will work together to determine a plan to address the primary goal.
Psychiatric Services
The Counseling Center offers psychiatric evaluation and other psychiatric services. Students are eligible for two psychiatric appointments before any additional fees are assessed. If you think you need medication management, you must see a counselor at the Counseling Center first.
Case Management and Off-Campus Referrals
This service connects students with specialized and/or longer-term mental health services not currently provided by the Counseling Center. Case managers meet with students to discuss and make appropriate referrals, goals, insurance, transportation, and other relevant elements.
Counseling Center Workshops
Workshops designed for small groups to meet for three sessions to build coping skills for a range of concerns — from dealing with anxiety to improving relationships and more. The facilitators respect each participant’s right to share only what they are comfortable sharing
Teletherapy Platform
Every NC State degree-seeking student can access free counseling sessions virtually. Students have expanded access to clinicians with evening and weekend availability.
Question, Persuade, Refer Training
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training is a bystander-intervention programming focused on identifying warning signs for students in crisis, strategies for support and resources for referrals.
Challenge Course
Wellness and Recreation offers a variety of team and leadership development programs to student organizations, university departments, community organizations and corporate groups at the Jim Wall Challenge Course.
Climbing Center
The Climbing Center consists of two types of indoor climbing: roped climbing and bouldering. Bouldering is available for drop-in use any time the Wellness and Recreation Center is open, while roped climbing has set hours where staff are on-site.
Opioid Training
This workshop will draw attention to opioid trends, signs and symptoms of overdose, and appropriate intervention. Each participant can take home a Naloxone (Narcan) kit.
Let’s Talk: Drop-in Counseling
Let’s Talk is a drop-in program that connects NC State students with support from experienced counselors from the Counseling Center without an appointment. Drop-in counseling offers an informal, confidential consultation at several sites on campus.
Couples Counseling
Couples therapy at the NC State Counseling Center is an option for treatment if both students are enrolled in academic instruction.
Fitness Training Programs
Experience the power of exercising in an inclusive, community-based environment with progressive programming and intentional coaching. Led by nationally-certified trainers, group training strives to enhance a participant’s overall fitness while focusing on different aspects of skill development.
Fitness Classes
Group fitness classes are included with a Wellness and Recreation Center membership at no extra cost. With 85+ group fitness classes each week, offerings include strength, dance, cycle, HIIT, yoga and more.
Club Sports
Club Sports are student-led organizations formed with a common interest in a sports activity. Clubs may be recreational, competitive or a combination of both, emphasizing student leadership, service and engagement that enhance your college experience.

Wellness and Accessibility Technology Lending
University Libraries offers a collection of devices aimed at promoting wellness and enabling physical and emotional self-care, including color blind glasses, Verilux full spectrum lamps, guided meditation lights, white noise machines, talking calculators, high contrast keyboards and pen readers.
Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Space
NC State’s interfaith prayer and meditation room (Room 2108, East Wing, Hill Library) serves and supports all students and the holistic wellness of the university community, as scientific evidence demonstrates the significant cognitive and physiological benefits of meditation. The spaces allow individuals of all religious faiths and non-religious beliefs to experience a place for peace, prayer, meditation and/or reflection throughout the day.
Queer Quorum
Queer Quorum opens up the GLBT Center to a variety of intersectional, student-picked discussion topics. The first and last Tuesday of every month features a different student dialogue facilitator who chooses the month's topic and leads participants in a thought-provoking discussion. This event creates space for dialogue and affirmation of queer and intersecting identities.
Feminist Fridays
Hosted by the NC State Women's Center, Feminist Fridays aims to create a community of scholars who believe in collaborative leadership through engaging in critical discourse and reflection and provides an opportunity for transformative learning through discussion, counter-storytelling and refuting the dominant narrative often attributed to marginalized populations.
What’s on the Table
What's on the Table is the African American Cultural Center's weekly space for Black folx across campus to come together to unpack important conversations essential to our communities. From navigating PWIs, to the weaponization of black hair, this space is known to provide dialogue that stimulates the minds of attendees and offers a space for Black folx to be free and exist.
QTPOC
QTPOC (Queer and Transgender People of Color) centers the lived experiences of African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American, Native American, multi-racial, and communities of color who identify as LGBTQIA+, and provides a space for students to share their experiences, discuss how their identities influence each other, connect with other students who are navigating multiple communities and what that can mean in terms of feeling welcome, accepted and included.
T-Files
T-Files provides a space that centers the lived experiences of transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender-questioning students to explore and affirm their identities, build community, and create a welcoming environment at NC State.
Pack Essentials
Pack Essentials provides resources for students at risk of or experiencing food, housing or financial insecurity, with a centralized collection of on- and off-campus resources, including the Student Emergency Fund, Meal Plan and Housing Scholarships, Meal Share program and the Feed the Pack food pantry. The Pack Essentials team responds to applicants in a timely manner to conduct a comprehensive assessment of each student's needs and helps connect them to the appropriate resources.
Peer Health Education Group
Peer health educators are a diverse group of students who are trained to teach fellow students about pertinent health issues in a positive, interactive and nonjudgmental environment. Topics include alcohol and other drugs, smoking cessation, sexuality programming, nutrition, body image/eating disorders, stress management, mental health and more.
