SEATING/STANDING
When choosing your seat, please make room for your fellow passengers. This will help keep the route time to a minimum.
Priority Seating:
Designated seating toward the front of the bus and in wheelchair accessible areas are prioritized for seniors and persons with disabilities.  These areas are identified with decals.
Aisle or Window?
If possible, use the seat nearest the window. For your own safety, please sit facing forward and use seatbelt equipment when available.
Personal Items:
Personal items may be stowed in the overhead luggage area, under your seat or on your lap – but NOT on the seat next to you, please.
Standing:
Please remain seated while the bus is in motion. For safety reasons, standing is prohibited unless the bus is at capacity. Federal law prohibits passengers from standing in front of the white or yellow line nearest the driver.
Thank you and enjoy the ride.
How to Transfer Between Buses
Ventura County transit operators offer transfers between two buses traveling in a single direction.  While most transfers are free, transfers to VCTC Zone 2 routes (Coastal Express/Conejo Connection) are $1.50 ($0.75 reduced). Transfers to Valley Express Fixed-Route are free. Transfers to Valley Express Dial-A-Ride are $0.50. All applicable fees are payable upon boarding your second bus with your transfer.
To use a transfer, follow these steps:
1. Upon boarding the first bus, ask the driver for a transfer. (You will not be able to get a transfer when you exit the bus.)
2. Exit the bus at your transfer point and wait for your second bus. Transfer is valid for 120 minutes from the time it is issued.
3. When your second bus arrives, insert your transfer into the farebox along with any applicable fees.
4. Transfers using VCbuspass and Tap2Ride occur automatically, no paper transfer will be given.
Transfers may not be used for stopovers and cannot be used for a return trip.
You must transfer at the first point of contact with the route you want to transfer to.
Transfers must be kept in a clean, presentable condition.
You may not sell, trade, exchange, give away, or offer for passage a transfer in violation of the rules of VCTC.
In case of dispute, you are required to pay the full fare and notify the Regional Transit Information Center at 800.438.1112 or
send us a message
HOW TO LOAD YOUR BIKE ON A VCTC BUS
VCTC buses are specially equipped with spaces to accommodate bicycles. The majority of buses have both front-mounted bicycle racks and undercarriage luggage compartments. Please use the front-mounted racks first, prior to requesting the undercarriage compartments. We advise that passengers be prepared to lock their bike at the bus stop if the bike racks/areas are full. VCTC allows electric bikes (e-bikes) if they do not have wet-cell batteries (most are now lithium). E-bikes must to be placed in the front bike racks where they will not slide around
Upon entering and exiting the bus, let the driver know that you have a bicycle. For safety, the driver will assist with opening and closing the undercarriage area door. If using the front rack, please remind the driver upon exiting the bus that you have a bike on the front rack.
VCTC is not responsible for any theft or damage to your bicycle or personal belongings.
Unclaimed bikes will be kept at Lost and Found and held for no more than 30 days. Please call 800.438.1112 (Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.- 6 p.m.) if you leave your bike or other belongings behind.
All VCTC Intercity buses are equipped with wheelchair ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. In addition, VCTC buses can be lowered at the push of a button by the driver to make them easier to board. Service animals may ride the bus.
All transfer point bus stops and major intersections are announced. Additionally, as the bus approaches a transfer point bus stop, the driver announces the bus line number, which is heard externally by waiting passengers. The bus driver will announce any other stop request.
For persons who are unable to ride VCTC buses due to a disability, paratransit operators provide dial-a-ride service in every city of Ventura County.
