The diplomatic relationship with Japan, in the post-independent India has started with the signing of a peace treaty in 1952. However, it was in the post-cold war era and especially in the present century, there was a paradigm shift and has gained a strength in bilateral engagements between India-Japan. The economic relations have grown fast in recent decades. The relationship between the two states continues to be shaped by both the trade frictions and broader geopolitical considerations. The recent reciprocal trade tariff by US on 2 nd April 2025, with in the backdrop of shifting global world order marked by multipolarity with strategic competition and realignment has raised the strategic consideration of Americans first trade policy by the trump administration. Whereas, protectionist and regulatory approach adopted by Trump administration is creating divergence in services, technology and strategic context that can have a stress on mutual engagement between the India-US bilateral engagements. The present research study seeks to investigates the existing reciprocal economic/ trade tariff measures within the broader geopolitical framework. At the same time, the study also tries to argue diversification of market for India in an era of ambiguity.

The changing geostrategic landscape of Indian Ocean throughout the cold war to postcold and in the contemporary times, has seen many regional as well as extra-regional powers like, India, U.S. China, Russia, and other littoral states. The issue of security of ocean especially in seafaring, piracy, maritime terrorism, climate change, illegal fishing, and drug trafficking, choke points are defining regional uncertainty. The significance of IOR in the present-day by means of regional economic integration, multilateral framework, and emerging security architecture in ensuring freedom of navigation and safeguarding economic interests has increased over the period. It is in this broader framework, the research study provides insights into the brief discourse on maritime geopolitics through focusing on change in the security environment of IOR. The research will also explore the maritime security challenges and draw attention to the regional and multilateral frameworks necessary to promote regional stability.

China and Pakistan are often regarded as 'all-weather' friends. The shared border disputes, follo... more China and Pakistan are often regarded as 'all-weather' friends. The shared border disputes, followed by confrontation and enmity with India drifted two countries towards each other. Strong convergence of strategic interests further strengthened their relationship. Both the states resolved their border disputes and signed the first trade agreement in 1963. However, trade between the two was initiated in the early 1950s, when China exchanged coal with Pakistani cotton. Economic interactions between the two nations continued during the Cold War period. However the economic dimension was outshined by the strategic collaborations during the Cold War period. However, in the 1990s, when soft power emerged as the main tool of the foreign policy of the nations and geo-economics started replacing geo-strategy, the economic relations between the two also deepened. China's economic reforms followed by a boom in the Chinese economy presented an opportunity for China-Pakistan to strengthen their relations. Further, Pakistan's economic reforms in the late 1990s and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2006 expanded their relationship. Pakistan is playing a very crucial role in emerging China's dream project 'The One Belt and One Road initiative'. Multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has generated much hope and hype in Pakistan. It is against this backdrop, that the present paper will try to analyze in brief the economic dimension of China -Pakistan relations in the post-Cold War era.

The Economic-the stability and change of economic linkages in order to maximize economic security. The Political-causes of regional peace and conflict and changing threat perceptions. Secondly, State perceptions and policies will be especially concerned with the perceived global and regional positions. For instance, Pakistan's perception of its 'regional centrality' in South Asia and its sphere of influence in the Indian Ocean. Further, the state policy documents which identify particular orientations or changes in orientations in geopolitics, geoeconomics and geostrategic terms. These analyses, will lead to an increased understanding of the behaviour of Pakistan as a state in the Indian Ocean Region. That will contribute to an environment of peace and stability in the region.

Despite of this, India and Canada relationship is yet to develop its full potential. The present article tries to examine and analyses the geopolitical relations and bilateral engagement between India-Canada and its geoeconomic potential in the present century. The various efforts were made to conclude a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two nations on the lines of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with commitments to tariff reductions and reforms in the commercial environment. Despite of few irritants, both the country started moving towards greater trade cooperation and collaboration. It is against this backdrop the research article aims to analyze the degree of convergence and divergence of geopolitical and geoeconomic issues that have affected New Delhi's interest in seeking a broader relationship with Ottawa. Further, the paper will try to examine the other factors in cementing the multilateral collaboration and cooperation between the two nations in the present century.

We can see in the present context that India's foreign policy and its diplomatic approaches took a paradigm shift in the present century, especially during the Narendra Modi era both in terms of pragmatism as well as ideals. The study begins with a brief introduction in a historical and geopolitical perspective in foreign policy representations of India's engagement with the states of Southeast Asia before and during the cold war as well as in the post-cold war period.
