Meet Matin Malek.
Jade Vencer
Meet Matin—a senior international student from the U.K. studying Political Science and International Relations. He came to JBU on a basketball scholarship after a former coach encouraged him to apply. During his first year, a tragic accident forced him to rethink everything, including whether he could stay in school. Thanks to supporters like you, additional scholarships allowed him to continue his education and rediscover his purpose.

Scholarships
A Long Term Investment
Contributions to student scholarships are not just a one-time gift but a long-term investment in individuals and the communities they serve. Scholarships break down financial barriers and pave the way for students to access a quality, Christ-centered education. Your commitment to this cause will leave a lasting legacy, impacting generations of students to come. JBU provides several opportunities to partner together in this investment, including endowed scholarships, the annual fund, or by joining the Founder’s Circle.
JBU Scholarship Fund
Financial aid is almost always a crucial factor in a student’s decision to attend JBU. In fact, over 90% of JBU students receive a form of financial aid, and many of them also work part-time or full-time or manage multiple jobs to help pay for their tuition. However, gaps still remain in spite of grants, outside scholarships, and what families can afford to pay. The JBU Scholarship Fund (JBUSF) helps bridge this gap. Scholarships are critical to student financial aid now more than ever.
Giving back – in any amount – creates incredible opportunities for current students who will soon become future JBU alumni. By giving to the JBUSF, you are not just supporting a fund, but you are also becoming part of a community of JBU alumni and friends who are committed to shaping the future of our students.

Endowed Scholarships
Endowed Scholarships are created to provide for current student scholarships and preserve the scholarship for generations to come. 90% of JBU students receive financial aid and scholarships.
Endowments for faculty and chairs allow for a permanent source of funding for the faculty/chair to use to support their teaching. View endowed chairs here.
Gifts made to this fund will support costs associated with retaining high-caliber faculty. Donors who make contributions to support faculty positions often do so because of the ripple effect that person can have through the nature of their work, both in educating students and advancing research in their field.

JBU Scholarship Fund
What is the JBU Scholarship Fund (JBUSF)?
The JBUSF provides need
based scholarships and work
study jobs to students
each year. The current goal for the JBUSF is $825,000.
What is the average amount and number of students who receive scholarships each year?
Approximately 500 students benefit from generous support to the JBUSF each
year. An average of $1,750 is awarded per student each year.
What is an endowed scholarship?
Endowed scholarships are scholarships created by individuals, families,
foundations or groups of donors (such as alumni classes). Scholarship funds
are invested in JBU’s endowment and a spending percentage, which is
reviewed and set annually by the JBU Board of Trustees, creates the annual
scholarship(s) for students with financial need or who meet certain criteria.
How do I create an endowed scholarship?
A minimum of $10,000 is required to create an endowed scholarship. In
addition to cash gifts, there are a variety of creative ways to fund a scholarship.
JBU works closely with donors so that the
terms of the endowed scholarship accomplish the donor’s intent.
