Snowsports
Saints Snowsports caters for those those looking to hit the slopes in Scotland and abroad.
The University of St Andrews Snowsports Club
The Snowsports Club caters to a broad membership base of competitive, recreational and social members.
Welcome to St Andrews Snowsports (SAS), the home of snow and socials for St Andrews students! Every week we have teams that travel across Scotland to hit the slopes, and once a year we descend on the Alps for a week, bringing nearly 400 students with us. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or it’s your first time on snow, there’s always a place for you in SAS.
SAS is comprised of several teams, amongst which we have some of the best student athletes in the UK. Both our Race and Freestyle teams train weekly on slopes around Scotland, as well as competing against some of the best university skiers in competitions across the UK. Don’t worry if you’ve never competed before, as our sessions are open to anyone who is at an intermediate level of skiing or above, and qualified coaches are there to help guide and coach all team members!
In the winter we also run several trips to the Scottish ski resorts. Yes those three words do go together! Scotland does have a fully-fledged skiing community and here in St Andrews we are perfectly placed to take advantage of this.
Never skied or snowboarded before? No problem! In the first semester we run subsidised training sessions for complete beginners or those who want to refine their skills (just in time for ski trip!). We always love to welcome new members to the SAS family, so come join us!
We don’t stop off the slopes either. SAS loves a good time, and our monthly Sinners pres are not to be missed, along with our stand-alone SAS events where we showcase the best of St Andrews DJ talent. If you’re not a skier it’s no problem, many members join us just for the socials! SAS is built around a community of welcoming people and whilst we love a bit of snow, our club spirit is what makes us truly unique in St Andrews.
