Biography
Mhairi Campbell is a Research Associate in the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) research group.
Mhairi’s current role is in the UKRI funded Policy Modelling for Health (HealthMod) to lead evidence synthesis to quantify the health impacts of economic determinants of health (such as wealth, debt and employment status) to inform policy simulation models.
Mhairi has a broad experience of conducting complex systematic reviews, and has led on reviews examining topics including participatory budgeting, qualitative evidence of policy interventions, and theories linking income and health. Within the HealthMod research programme, she is currently conducting systematic reviews examining economic determinants of health.
Mhairi contributes to research developing methodological guidance and is interested in methods to help improve the conduct of evidence synthesis. She has led on the development, administration, and analysis of several Delphi consultations.
Guidance she has contributed to includes a guideline for reporting population health and policy interventions, guidance for reporting synthesis without meta-analysis in systematic reviews, guidance for the adaptation of complex population health interventions, and guidance for the use and conduct of natural experimental evaluations.
Research interests
Research interests
Use of systematic review methodologies to inform policy decisions, and investigating social and public health interventions.
Systematic review methods including narrative synthesis, mixed methods synthesis, meta-research, and the potential for mixed methods synthesis incorporating systematic review methods to produce timely and useful information on how interventions do, or do not, work.
Social and public health interests including understanding links between social security and health, how to address health inequalities, and how to inform and support healthy public policy.
