Welcome to the Wetlands Program
The Vermont Wetlands Program is responsible for identifying and protecting wetlands and the functions and values they provide by the implementation of the
Vermont Wetland Rules
.  Activities to achieve these goals include education, project review, and enforcement.
The 2023 Vermont Wetland Rules remain in effect.  Housing projects still need a wetland permit to proceed construction in wetlands and buffer zones.  The amendments to the Rule for housing have not yet been adopted.
UPDATE: Verification of wetland boundaries will need to take place in the spring during the growing season which starts in April or May.  To complete an initial wetland screening for your property at any time of the year, use our
