Any time that people work together, it is important to make rules that they should agree to follow. Most of the rules written here must be followed by everyone, and some of the rules are still being decided.
Most of the time, if a specific rule is not here yet or if a situation is not covered by the rules here, we will look at the
rules on English Wikipedia
on Simple English Wikipedia
on English Wiktionary
, and on other Wikimedia projects, and use common sense.
Foundation rules
The
Wikimedia Foundation
has made rules that we can not change, because all projects must follow them.
Neutral point of view
is the most important editing rule.
Anyone can edit articles without registering for a username.
The "wiki process" is the way to decide what is put on the project.
All writing is available by
copyleft licensing
. Wiktionary uses the
Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike 3.0 Unported license
