Spring View is Du Fu's famous poem describing the desolation of Chang'an after the An Lushan Rebellion.
The Poem
The nation shattered, mountains and rivers remain.
In the city spring comes, grass and trees grow deep.
Moved by the times, flowers splash with tears.
Hating separation, birds startle the heart.
About the Poet
Du Fu (712-770) is considered the greatest realist poet of the Tang Dynasty, known as the Poet Sage.
